Alfonso Lopez is an architectural designer with over 8 years of professional experience in the United States, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. He received a Master’s Degree in Architectural Design from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University in New York City and a Bachelor of Architecture from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. Prior to his studies at Columbia University, he collaborated with Enric Miralles – Benedetta Tagliabue Arquitectes Associats in Barcelona, Spain and Rogelio Salmona Taller de Arquitectura in Bogota, Colombia. After receiving his Master’s degree, Alfonso worked for widely recognized architectural offices such as Jung|Brannen Associates, Sasaki Associates, and Wood + Zapata in Boston.

 

Mr. Lopez places the primary focus on the design process and the evolution of ideas from Concept through Design Development as well as ways to increase the value of the finished buildings for the client. He works hands-on within the core team on projects of all sizes and types as well as various, national and international architectural competitions. His ability to achieve a powerful design concept integrated with an environmentally sustainable program fitting the clients requirements adds value to each commission. Alfonso has been invited as a critic for design reviews at the Rhode Island School of Design, Boston Architectural Center and Florida International University. Alfonso is a LEED Accredited Professional and a registered architect in Colombia.
