King Khalid Military City, Al Batin, Saudi Arabia

First of the new master plan and design cities in Saudi Arabia, built for the Ministry of Defense and Aviation, through a process managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The City can fully support itself with independent utility systems, food processing, neighborhood schools, and a variety of housing types in addition to its military facilities. The plan accommodates a core resident population of 80,000 as well as supplementary facilities. The design organizes the City by military units and sub-organizes by housing type, operating facility type, etc., and separates pedestrian and vehicular functions by the placement of parks and plazas. The project is complete and operational.
