Broadway Gate is a 2.5 Million Square Foot Mixed Used Development located on four mostly contiguous lots allowing for complimentary uses which invigorate each of the separate buildings.
Instead of assuming each building is a separate, disengaged structure, the concept integrates an overall development plan, yet enables each building to have its own identity and share common elements and features to allow them to be read as a whole, fitting the urban context but modernizing it and revitalizing the area. The project aims to create a multilevel pedestrian experience by creating commercial spaces at street level and on upper floors where hotel, office, and residential areas are linked by different levels of connectivity which establishes an architectural landmark and an urban gate to the city.
From an urban planning perspective, the project fulfills the local objectives of the three-dimensional zoning and uses the height of the towers to create the southern and highway edges to the traditional Downcity of Providence.
